Book Titles and Author's Names
Titles are listed in strict alphabetical order from beginning to end without regard for punctuation (or spaces) and numbers are spelled out. For example, Aircraft of the Vietnam War is listed before Air Force Heroes in Vietnam and Battles in the Monsoon is listed before BAT 21. Articles of speech (e.g., A, An, and The) at the beginning of titles are ignored.
We are not responsible for errors or omissions. Every effort has been made to provide correct information regarding book titles, ISBN numbers and the names of authors. If any errors are brought to our attention, we will gladly correct them.
ISBN (International Standard Book Number)
The International Standard Book Number (ISBN) is a 10-digit number (also included as a barcode usually on the book's back cover) that uniquely identifies each book. Again, we have tried to be as accurate as possible. Since a particular book may have more than one ISBN (e.g., for a hardcover edition and a softcover edition), we have added an H suffix to indicate the hardcover edition and/or S to indicate the softcover edition. Note that this format is for our list only. Do not include when referring the ISBN to others. Starting in 2007, a 13-digit ISBN will be used.
Not all books listed are still available for purchase. Many are out-of-print but may be available for borrowing at your local public library or for purchase from used book dealers.
If interested in obtaining books, see our Publishers/Distributors/Dealers page for possible sources.
We do not sell any books or are affiliated with any agent, dealer, or publisher.
Completeness of Listing
Not all Vietnam War-related books are listed. There are many, many titles available and the Vietnam War Books site does not profess to list them all (maybe someday!). See our Book Sites Page for other Vietnam War-related book sites.
Suggestions for Additions to the List
We welcome and review all title suggestions for inclusion in our list but due to time and space limitations, we may not be able to accommodate every request. Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Endorsements and Validity
The inclusion of any book on our lists does not imply in any way an endorsement of the views or beliefs of the author and/or of the book's content by this site. Nor have we verified the completeness or validity of the contents of any book or the credentials of any author.
In the last few years there have been many individuals claiming to be Vietnam War veterans, P.O.W.s, or even Medal of Honor recipients, both in the community as well as in published "memoirs." Some are actual veterans who have exaggerated (or faked) their military accomplishments. At least one book, Stolen Valor, by B.G. Burkett and Glenna Whitley, details the story behind many of these fake vets. There are also several Web sites that have unmasked several of these individuals. Since the intent of this site is to list the various literature about the Vietnam War, some "questionable" books may appear on this site.
For the convenience of our visitors, we have a limited listing of book publishers and dealers that specialize in Vietnam-related and military titles. See our Publishers & Dealers page.
